As a plus-size woman, the dread of purchasing a new bra without any real reference for the size or fit can be frustrating. This is why I recommend brands like Third Love and Cacique which do a great job of educating women on proper fit.

I recently found out that experts recommend replacing your bra every six months to a year depending on the wear.

When I think about how often I wear them, this doesn’t seem unreasonable. The best part is this gives me an excuse to treat myself to a mid-year shopping trip.

According to Third Love, an online retailer that offers a total of 78 bra sizes from a 30 to 48 band and an AA to I cup; your bra should:

  • Not gap, over flow or side flow in the cup
  • The straps should not slip or dig in
  • The underwire sits snugly under breast
  • Band stay put sitting high on you back

We all deserve to feel sexy everyday and this starts with your intimates.

plus size intimates

I have shopped with Lane Bryant for Cacique bras since my college days. Back then, I wore a double D bra, and they were the only in-store option to purchase that didn’t resemble my grandmothers’ cone-shaped bra. Today they are still my go-to for intimates.

The in-store fitting service is great for those times when you may need a second opinion on the fit or maybe a suggestion on a new style. The Cacique specialists are women who understand the need for a plus size women for comfort, support, and shape.

Lane Bryant recently released the improved Balconette bra and their no-show panty; both of my favorites for everyday comfort and support.

The Balconette bra is comfortable and offers just the right amount of support. Also, the shape s very natural; no “cone boobs” here! This bra has a variety of levels to the molded cups with hidden underwire and sleek stretch fabric; basically all-day comfort.

Added bonus the Balconette comes in a variety of styles, strap options (including convertibles) and U-back (helps reduces bulges for a smooth look under clothes).

This may be TMI, but I pretty much live in the no-VPL panty line. I love the feel of these panties, and I don’t have to worry about shifting or thigh discomfort. Did I mention they’re sexy too?

The no-show panty comes in every style from full brief to g-string.

What’s your go-to bra and panty combo? Let me know down in the comments.

Go Live Life Out Loud and comeback and tell your girl all about!
