Is there any better feeling than walking into a cozy bedroom? I love the mix of luxurious textures, neutral tones, and warm scents that make up the perfect cozy bedroom. These spaces evoke a familiar feel; it’s like the rooms is whispering “come relax”.
With the temperatures starting to drop here in Chicago, I had an urge to re-do my master bedroom for a more cozy vibe. I wanted a space where I could cuddle up with a good book and Bella of course all winter long.
What is a Cozy Bedroom?
You maybe wondering what makes a cozy bedroom, anyways? Me too.
When I searched Pinterest for cozy bedroom ideas, most of the bedrooms were all white. I remember thinking, how my life is set up with a daughter and fur child who takeover my bed at any given time; a white room spells disaster in my home.
I knew what I wanted the room to feel like, but was still a little unsure on how to create it. So I did what any women on a decor mission would do, I took a trip to Target. My favorite place for current decor inspiration.
During my trip, I quickly realized that a cozy bedroom is all about texture. Creating layers of warmth that you could see, touch, and smell creating and emotion of coziness.
Five Ways to Make Your Bedroom Cozy
- Pick a color scheme that feels warm to you. This could be snow-white, greys, or deep purples and blues.
- Next, add texture by choosing quilted or even velvet linens and layer on faux fur accents in tonal colors that complement your theme.
- When redecorating a room, most people won’t consider how a place smells, but the scent can transport you. Choose a warm scent via an oil diffuser that can really make a room feel cozier is a game-changer.
- Don’t forget the lighting. By choosing a softer, more defused light source, you can create warm shadows in your bedroom. I always opt for having a light on both sides of the bed to anchor the space. If you are in a smaller area, you can add lighting that clips on to the headboard, or wall-mounted sconces are an excellent option as well.
